BOOK OF THE DAY

Here I´m collecting my old Book of the Day tips.

My ratings are: Highly recommended - Recommended - Alright - Don´t bother.

TIP NO 1

"The Mists of Avalon"
(in Swedish "Avalons dimmor")

by:

Marion Zimmer Bradley

Content:

About Morgaine, sister of King Arthur, the knights of the Round Table at Camelot, Merlin, Lancelot - it´s magic from the women´s point of view, but also plenty about the daily lives of the royalties and the people during these hard days. Thick book that lasts forever. I want more!

Rating:

Highly recommended.

TIP NO 2

"Night woman"
(in Swedish "Nattkvinnan")

by:

Nancy Price

Content:

About Mary, writing novels that her husband thinks he writes during his mental illness periods. Then he dies and she´s free. But another man comes along.....Well written. Same author as "Sleep with the Enemy", and in the same style (really bad man meeting weak woman who turns strong).

Rating:

Recommended.

TIP NO 3

"I, Elizabeth"
(in Swedish "Jungfrudrottningen")

by:

Rosalind Miles

Content:

About Queen Elizabeth (1533-1603) and her reign. Told in "I"-form. Interesting, but never exciting.

Rating:

Alright.

TIP NO 4

"Good Grief"
(in Swedish "Amors badrum")

by:

Sally Brampton

Content:

About Hildamay and her friends. Single and happy, but she meets love in a child. Funny, sad and an interesting personality.

Rating:

Highly recommended.

TIP NO 5:

"Two for the Dough"
(in Swedish "Jagat byte")

by:

Janet Evanovich

Content:

About prizehunter Stephanie Plum in the beginning of her career, the casanova & cop Joe Morelli, her grandmother´s funeral visits and her mom´s cooking - all ending up in easy, funny reading, snappy language and an unlikely heroine that it´s easy to identify with.

Rating:

Recommended.

TIP NO 6:

"Bridget Jones´s Diary"
(in Swedish "Bridget Jones dagbok")

by:

Helen Fielding

Content:

About Bridget Jones and her daily life as single, 30, on a constant diet trying to quit cigarettes and alcohol and finding the perfect guy. Very funny, and comforting for us who are or have been in the same situation. You´re not alone!

Rating:

Recommended.

TIP NO 7:

"Entertaining Angels"
(in Swedish "Kackerlackor & änglar")

by:

Marita van der Vyver

Content:
About Griet in South Africa and her life after divorce and losing a child. Her way back to life. Dark with lots of humour, tenderness and even sex.
Rating:

Recommended.
